I love the labels of these wines and it’s good to know that they taste good as well. I don’t crave for certain wines when the weather changes. I just finished drinking a Napa meritage (Chupacabra by Merkin Vineyard). Before this I drank Cold Heaven viognier. I guess I’m weird that way, but oh well, I don’t mind eating ice cream when it’s cold outside or drinking hot tea in summer…

Yeah I like those labels too. I think when it starts to get cold I prefer a darker red wine, but I’ll drink white or red anytime of year. After watching this episode I feel like getting some Zinfandel!

    Thanks, Scott!

Ha, Guess What! Yesterday I bought 2 bottles of zinfandel! I bought St. Francis old vine zin and Four Vines zin. I wish I could find Evidence zin at a store. I think I will open one bottle tonight. I realized yesterday that it has been some time since I drank zinfandel.

Thanks for the comments. Yeah, the labels are really cool. I had to keep the bottles around for a few days after the wine was gone just to appreciate the lovely artwork on the bottle. How nerdy is that! How was the Cold Heaven viognier? I really want to try that one but I haven’t seen it anywhere where I have been wine shopping lately. Cheers, Scott

Thanks again for participating in the conversation. I think it’s really interesting for example that in winter there are a lot of people that will still order white wine but would never think of ordering a Rosé unless it was summertime. Go get your Zinfandel! Cheers, Scott

Hahahaha! Nice! You go get your Zinfandel on girl! I really liked the entry level Four Vines Old Vines Cuvee Zinfandel that I tried before. I would like to try one of their higher end Zins for comparison. I think that you can only get Evidence wines from their website or in select restaurants in California. Cheers, Scott

I emailed Evidence Wine and they were prompt answering me (I mentioned that I learned about their wine from your show). They told me exactly where to go and get a bottle in Santa Barbara, CA.

Well, it’s not too nerdy to keep the bottles around. In fact, I “collect” bottles with cool labels. Don’t know why. Cold Heaven viognier is really good. I absolutely love Cold Heaven and Melville viognier. Next time you are in Santa Barbara visit Lazy Acres (it’s like Whole Foods). Lazy Acres always has Cold Heaven and Melville. They are both about $23.

I do save a few empty bottles here and there just for the labels I admit. You may have noticed them in the background from time to time, mostly Orin Swift stuff. You should check out Eric Kent who makes great Pinot Noir and features different artists on their wine labels http://www.erickentwines.com/

I contacted Morgan Clendenen, the owner/winemaker at Cold Heaven, and hopefully we will do an interview/tasting video together in early 2012. Cheers, Scott
