Venokado is really unlike any wine store that I have ever been to. Located in the hip open space in the new Santa Monica Place Mall known as "The Market" ...

Qupé 2008 Central Coast Syrah
The Qupé 2008 Central Coast Syrah is a blend from 12 different vineyards in the Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties. The grapes range from cool climate syrah to warm climate syrah, with a little of everything in between, and are sourced from Bien Nacido (Santa Maria Valley), French Camp (Paso Robles), Chabot (Los Alamos), and Sawyer Lindquist (Edna Valley) making up the majority of the fruit that is used. The cooler climate fruit has the characteristics of spice and fresh acidity, while the warmer climate fruit brings the juicy, fruity characteristics. Qupé Winery currently has about a dozen releases but their Central Coast Syrah makes up for about half of the production.

Perrin & Fils Côtes du Rhône Villages 2007
Just another casual night at home, a little TV, some take-out dinner from CPK, and another “quality/bargain” french wine from the massive, bargain warehouse conglomerate known as Costco. This wine is a blend of 50% Syrah and 50% Grenache that come from two of the best vineyard plots in the Rhône Valley. Of all of the Côtes du Rhône vineyards, only 20% are allowed to add the classification term “Villages” next to their name, which is an indicator to the quality of these vineyards.
Bodega Norton Malbec Reserva 2007
I was wondering how many days/bottles it would take to get a corked wine on this project. The APCOR, aka “the cork-industry group”, points to a study done in 2005 by Wine Spectator magazine where 2800 bottles were tested and blind-tasting facilities in Napa Valley. The result, 7% of the bottles we tainted.
